There was a good number from the District of East Kent who travelled to the Grand East in London earlier this month to witness and support four members of the District who were to be recognised for their contribution to our wonderful Order.
III. Bros Anthony Eldridge and Michael Page were promoted to the 31°. Promotions to the 30° were conferred upon III. Bros Benedict Katumba and Christopher Longmire.
Members from East Kent plus others from many different Districts congregated at the Chequers Pub in Duke Street which is only a few doors away. The atmosphere was a mixture of excited anticipation and friendly banter with old acquiatances.

Whenever I visit to witness the 30° ceremony, I am always very impressed by how magnificent the interior of the Grand East truly is. It is easy to become intoxicated with the sheer splendour of it all. It is most certainly something to behold. There is always something new to learn with aspects of the ceremony being clearly and diligently explained. In due course, with the ceremonies completed, it was time to dine. Hungry!
It was just a short walk over to Mark Masons Hall and arranged before us was our table, a sight fit for a King (or Prince). Joining the recently promoted Brethren at the table was our Inspector General V. III Bro Roger Waltham 33°, supported by our District Recorder III. Bro Trevor Youens 31° (32° Elect), III. Bro David Alexander 32°, III. Bro Alan Kilburn 31°, III. Bro Paul Groves 31°, III. Bro Ron Davis 30° and our East Kent “Newshound” III. Bro Peter Herbert 30°.
A wonderful day, punctuated liberally with splendour, wonderful food, amazing ritual and the very best of fellowship. Splendid!
