The White Lion pub in Selling was this year’s location for the annual District of East Kent Higher Degrees Dinner. Various members of the 33rd, 32nd and 31st degrees congregated at this lovely country pub for an evening of Good Fellowship, Good Food but, mercifully on this occasion, no Ritual!
Event organizer, Ill Bro Lyndon Jones 32°, once again arranged a splendid evening on one of the hottest days of the year thus far. As such, the “jackets removed” protocol was well received. Our Inspector General, V. Ill Bro Roger Waltham 33° welcomed all those present, particularly those who have been dealing with health challenges in recent times. It was great to see them.

The annual dinner provides an excellent opportunity to participate in discussions about the challenges faced by Chapters across the District and share the successes and best practices that are equally prevalent. Supported by our existing communication platforms, including the District Website and Facebook Group, it was particularly noted that the “personal touch” is one of the most productive strategies when applied to possible recruitment of new candidates or re-joining members. A consistent theme expressed by so many members of our Order is the depth of their affection for the Rose Croix. It is therefore hugely advantageous that we all communicate this warmth and enjoyment in our conversations with those who may be interested in becoming part of it.
It wasn’t all work though! A very enjoyable meal was accompanied by suitable amounts of friendly “to and fro” amongst some rather convivial company. If you look closely at the pictures, you may discern the presence of the 3 Amigos? Namely the Past Past, Past and current District Recorders for East Kent. Also in attendance was the District Recorder for West Kent, Ill. Bro Adrian Wagstaff 32°. Adrian was given the traditional East Kent welcome!
