St. Mary in Ashford Chapter No 802 has Perfected its first candidate who is of a faith other than that of a Trinitarian Christian. Bro David Hess holds the Jewish faith and was duly Perfected into our wonderful Order.
Before sitting for dinner, our intrepid Newshound, Ill Bro Peter Herbert, had time to talk with our newest Perfectee. David was absolutely delighted to become a member of the “Rose Croix”, his words were “Gosh that was amazing I just loved it”. He was so enthusiastic that we have arranged for him to see a Perfection in the near future, to help it all sink in! Our Newshound had to ask the question of “with a surname of Hess did his roots come from Germany”? David answered without hesitation and said “Yes”. His family escaped Nazi Germany just after Kristallnacht ”Crystal Night” or the Night of Broken Glass, which took place on 9–10 November 1938. They came to England as refugees and swore allegiance to their new home and have been here ever since. As always, it’s a pleasure to see III Bro Roger Odd and Peter introduced him to the newly Perfected Prince and managed to capture both of them together to take this wonderful photo.
The meeting was also a fitting time and place for III Bro Trevor Youens, District Recorder, to announce that he was stepping down as the head of the ‘Party Piece” Team. III Bro Trevor has run the Party Pieces initiative for the last few years and felt now was the time to hand over the reins . He was delighted to pass on the running of the Team to Ill Bro Gordon Brown.
What is the Party Piece Team I hear some of you say? Well, if for whatever reason you find that your Chapter is unable to perform a certain piece of ritual for one of your meetings or you are short of an Officer you may wish to seek help from the “Party Piece” Team. Equally if you feel that you or a member of your Chapter would particularly enjoy an Office or a piece of Ritual and think you can help by becoming a member of the Team, then please do not hesitate to contact III Bro Gordon for further information.
