Cycling For Charity

III. Bro David Horne in both Prostate Cancer UK and British Heart Foundation cycling attire

On a recent visit to the Belvidere Chapter No 942 which meets at the Maidstone Masonic Centre in Tovil, I was rather fortunate to sit next  to III. Bro David Horne 31° for dinner. We had a very interesting conversation and it became clear to me just how much time and effort he was putting in to raise money for two very worthy Charites, namely, Prostate Cancer UK and the British Heart Foundation.

David aims to cycle from London to Brighton and is putting in many miles to get himself fit. He regularly cycles 15 miles or so daily, but he had just put in a 65-mile bike ride when I spoke to him and was feeling a little sore!

Having had Prostate cancer, I know how important it is for an early diagnosis and for a quick response to ensure a high level of survival. It is one of the common cancers in men but so easy to treat if caught early.

I have also lost family members due to heart issues, and I know how important it is to continue supporting the research of medicines and treatments for those suffering with heart problems.

So, when I found out that David was raising money for both these worthy charities, I wanted to help in any way that I could. One way I could do this is to bring this to your attention via this article. The other way is to donate whatever you are able. Please, just click the link below to go to the ‘Just Giving Page”. Its as simple as that!

I also want to relay to you III. Bro David’s own words from the Just Giving page:

I have decided to challenge myself in my 66th year to ride the London to Brighton event

I have chosen two charities one is Prostate UK this charity is working hard to ensure all men are screened. Also they continue to research new treatments

The other charity is The British Heart foundation.

Please donate to one, or both!

Thank you, David Horne.
