Two well-known characters and great friends who have derived much pleasure from working closely together in support of the Hubert de Burgh Chapter, sought an opportunity to celebrate their combined total of 75 years of service. The characters in question being Ill. Bros David Gavin 32° and David Alexander 32°. Having progressed through the various Chapter Offices and serving as Most Wise Sovereign, their personal career paths then diverged. David Gavin focussed on matters ceremonial, whilst David Alexander concentrated his efforts on the core administrative tasks. Together they share an immense pride in their mother Chapter and have on rare occasions, been heard to refer to it as the “premier chapter”!
Whilst packing away the gear following a recent meeting, they shared the view that the mismatched Loving Cups had not only seen better days, but were frankly rather infra dig for such a prestigious Chapter. The upshot was that they commissioned a pair of matching Loving Cups, to mark their long and happy association with the Order in general and this wonderful Chapter in particular.
At the May regular meeting, the Chapter formally welcomed E&P Bro Tim Jakob into the Order, with a most impressive ceremony of Perfection. As part of the routine business, the two David’s then had great pleasure in presenting the Loving Cups to the MWS, Peter Lapage 18°. On behalf of the members, the MWS expressed grateful thanks to both Davids for their beautiful and most generous gift. The Loving Cups were taken into immediate service, forming part of the welcome to E&P Bro Tim.
