A Very Busy Evening !

A fabulous turn-out at the Hubert De Burgh Chapter meeting in February 2023 had the pleasure to be part of a veritable smorgasbord of ritual and fellowship, consisting of a Perfection, the Enthronement of a Most Wise Sovereign and then the presentation of the Travelling Rose. How did we fit it all in ?

V.Ill. Bro. Roger Waltham 33°, the Inspector General for East Kent, members of Hubert De Burgh and all the guests were warmly welcomed to the meeting. Our honorary member, the past Inspector General V.Ill. Bro. Tony Denne 33° was present, as well as a substantial contingent from the Harmony Jubilee Chapter 834. 33 in all. Very apt !

The business of the evening began with the Perfection of E&P Bro. Russell Spendley 18° in a most impressive manner. Our newest member was obviously moved by the ceremony and is looking forward to many happy years in our lovely Order. The MWS, E&P Bro. David Lees 18°, was ably assisted in the ceremony of Perfection by Ill. Bro. Trevor Youens 31° and Ill. Bro. Stephen Carpenter 30°.

Next, E&P Bro. Edward Wright 18° was enthroned as the new MWS by E&P Bro. David Lees 18°. Ill. Bro. David Alexander 32° delivered the Address to the Brethren in his usual inimitable style.

The next highlight of the evening was a presentation the Supreme Council Certificate to E&P Bro. James Burchell 18° by the Inspector General, who stated he had no doubt that E&P Bro. James would enjoy much happiness in the Hubert De Burgh Chapter.

Ill. Bro. Lyndon Jones then rose and gave a superb summary of the background to the “Travelling Rose”. Kindly donated by our Inspector General, it is intended to encourage greater interaction between Chapters within the District of East Kent and share the many pleasures of our ceremonies. The Travelling Rose was then presented to the Hubert De Burgh Chapter by E&P Bro. Ryan Partridge, the MWS of Harmony Jubilee Chapter. The Travelling Rose will continue its journey in June when the members of Hubert De Burgh will pass it on to the MWS of Swale Chapter 657.

Following the Third Point, everyone retired to a thoroughly enjoyable festive board, full of the usual good harmony and conviviality. A very busy evening !
